A: Yes! Payment methods accepted include Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, checks and cash. A sliding fee-scale is also available for those with compelling financial need.

Q: What does it mean that Dr. Kindley is a Pastoral Counselor?

A: Dr. Kindley is a clinically trained Pastoral Counselor, a pastoral psychotherapist with over 20 years experience working with people of many backgrounds, creeds, and lifestyles. Pastoral Counseling integrates the therapeutic practice of psychotherapy with the Divine gift of spirituality. Prayer, faith, and spirituality are added components which can be brought to the counseling process. Persons without religious or spiritual orientation who enter the counseling process will find the same cognitive and behavioral therapy of a conventional counselor. They can also discover the added benefit of exploring the spiritual component of life if they choose to do so.

Q: I need a counselor that is convenient for me. What if I cannot come during the day?

A: Evening and weekend appointments are available. The office is centrally located at 3906 Lemmon Ave, one block West of Oak Lawn, above LaMadeleine French Bakery. Ample free parking is available off Lemmon Ave. or Reagan St.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: Although insurance is not accepted, cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, or Discover Card make payment convenient. Receipts are provided if you choose to file insurance on your own. Pastoral Counseling is a covered mental health expense for most Medical Reimbursement Plans, and client’s report that they have successfully filed claims with their major medical or mental health insurance providers. Dr. Kindley is an “out-of-network” provider, so you can inquire about coverage for counseling in this category.

Q: Do I need to be religious or a Christian?

A: No, Pastoral Counseling is for any seeking to grow in their understanding of themselves and in their relationships. Spirituality is a genuine component of the human experience, but spiritual or doctrinal beliefs are never forced upon anyone. People of all faiths or with no spiritual creed are welcome.

Q: What can I expect at my first session?

A: Your initial session will typically be about 75 minutes. This will be an opportunity for you to meet and know your therapist, complete some informational documents, and determine your method of payment. In order to focus on you and your concerns, payment of fees and other business-related tasks will be handled before your session begins. Scheduling of future appointments will be done at the end of the session.
